There are some areas that are beyond the scope of our work and we will be unable to assist you in these areas:
- HOA – Home Owners Association issues- A Homeowners' Association is run by a board of directors that is elected by homeowners to oversee the common assets of a property/area, manage its finances, run business affairs, enforce and set rules, and see to the maintenance and upkeep of the area. Many HOA’s hire a community management group but these groups are responsible for accounts receivables and other administrative services. The community group is bound by the by-laws of the HOA. Most HOA’s have a dispute resolution plan in place to solve issues. If you are having an issue ask to see their dispute resolution plan and then carefully follow the recommended action steps.
- Medical Malpractice- If you have an issue with a hospital, physician or other health services provider that relates to medical issues we suggest you seek the advice of an attorney.
- IRS and local tax issues- The Internal Revenue Service will only speak to you about your tax issues. They will not speak to a third party leaving us unable to help.
- Insurance issues- If you have a dispute with an insurance claim, here are some steps you can take:
- The range of options runs from trying to talk it out to taking it to court. To get the best possible outcome you should following a path of escalating action steps until a meeting of the minds is found.
- Review your policy: Carefully review your entire policy including the fine print for instructions, conditions, and terms of settlement. Many insurance companies have a procedure for how to dispute a claim. Be sure to follow the insurance company’s guidelines (if there are any) in order to reduce their ability to be difficult.
- Confirm your coverage: Double-checking the amount of your coverage is important because it will help you determine whether there is a point to moving forward with your dispute. For example, if your insurance company is only offering you $8,000 on a $13,000 loss and you only have $9,000 worth of coverage, there isn’t much you can do.
- Define the difference: You can’t have effective communication if you don’t know what the disagreement is about.
- Take notes: Keep a record of all calls including the name and title of each person you speak with. Ask for a conversation with a supervisor or manager.
- Consider hiring a third party independent insurance adjuster.
- Used Cars Purchases-If you have an issue with the purchase of your car, click here to find resources that may help you reach a resolution. When purchasing a vehicle buyer beware. We suggest you always take the car to a mechanic for a thorough review before ever signing an agreement to purchase. In Georgia when you purchase a car “as is” no matter what the dealership may say about that vehicle, you have very little recourse. To see your state’s laws pertaining to used vehicles, click here.
- Criminal or wrongful conviction-If you have been convicted your best option is to seek the help of a defense attorney.
