Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. – Einstein |
You have done what you could — some blunders and absurdities have crept in. Forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
– Emerson
We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called “Opportunity” and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.
– Edith L. Pierce
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
– Mark Twain

TrustDale Tip of the Day: *Preparing for Year-End: Quick Tips for Your Business
![]() |
It’s been a great year for all of us here at Outright. But, it seems like just the other day we were recovering from New Years’ Eve and now it’s already time to prepare for 2012! Boy, does time fly. There is a lot to think about before January 1st hits, but here are six quick things you can still do in 2011 to make sure that you save some Benjamins at tax time: |
- Take a photo of your home office
Having a home office is one of the biggest deductions many small businesses take. Simply put, this deduction can allow you to write off a percentage of your mortgage or rent, as well as your utilities. There are some rules you’ll need to follow to ensure your home office complies with IRS rules. We can’t tell you whether you should take this deduction or not – but, if you are thinking about it, then you will want to take a photo of your home office. You can show this photo to your accountant so that she or he can help you decide whether you should take the deduction or not. And, if you do take the deduction, the photo will be a good record to have of your home office. - Take note of your inventory
When you file your annual taxes, you’ll need to know your inventory at the end of the year (12/31)… not the inventory you have available when file your taxes (which is often April). It can be awfully hard to remember what you had on hand on December 31, so it’s worth keeping track of what you had in stock at the end of the year. You can do this with photos, a spreadsheet, a notebook or just about any other way. Just remember that you’ll need to be able to estimate the value of that inventory. - Get a read on how your taxes are shaping up
To see whether you need to take action to save yourself some money during taxes, you need to know where you stand first. We suggest that you take a look now and spend 5 minutes seeing how your expenses and income are shaping up. Once you’ve gotten a read on how you are doing, you need to decide: How much does it look like you will owe in taxes? Do you need to take action now in order to get some additional deductions? If so, see tips 4 and 5! Of course, we can’t give you specific advice on your personal tax situation, but it is worth you taking a look now in order to save some Benjamins in April! - Buy stuff
Yes, really. There’s a special deduction for 2011 that allows small businesses to expense up to $500,000 in equipment purchases this year. So, if you have any major expenses that you were planning for in January or February, such as a computer, think through whether you could move the expense up and spend the money now, before the end of the year. And, if you can get some end-of-year discounts on these items that means even more savings for you. - Donate to Charity
Do you have any obsolete inventory sitting around? If so, why risk it getting damaged? Make it work for you by donating it to charity. Depending on your personal situation, you may be able to get some deductions on taxes by donating. Just remember – if you donate over $500 worth of goods, there are stricter reporting requirements that you need to adhere to. - Hold off on doing your taxes until you get your 1099k
Procrastinators rejoice! Here’s something that you can take off of your to-do list. If you are an online seller who sold over $20,000 in product and sold over 200 items, you may be receiving a new tax form in the mail this year from PayPal – the PayPal 1099K. This form reports to you (and to the government) all the money you collected through PayPal this year. Head over to Outright’s PayPal 1099K Tax Center for more details on what you can expect from this unexpected tax form. But, overall, if you think you might be receiving one of these forms, you will want to wait to file your taxes until after you receive the form.

Power trumps the law…

The failings of Georgia’s public officials sometimes make headlines, and those responsible for holding them accountable make bold statements — that lead us to believe those officials will be held accountable. TrustDale Tip of the Day: *Steps For Making a New Year’s Resolution and Keeping It
Yes, it’s that time of year again; the time of year when we feel as if we have to turn over a new leaf. The time when we misguidedly imagine that the arrival of a new year will magically provide the catalyst, motivation, and persistence we need to reinvent ourselves.
![]() |
Traditionally, New Year’s Day is styled as the ideal time to kick start a new phase in your life and the time when you must make your all important New Year’s resolution. Unfortunately, the beginning of the year is also one of the worst times to make a major change in your habits because it’s often a relatively stressful time, right in the middle of the party and vacation season. |
Don’t set yourself up for failure in 2012 by vowing to make huge changes that will be hard to keep. Instead follow these steps for successfully making a new year’s resolution you can stick to for good.
- Just pick one thing
If you want to change your life or your lifestyle don’t try to change the whole thing at once. It won’t work. Instead pick one area of your life to change to begin with.Make it something concrete so you know exactly what change you’re planning to make. If you’re successful with the first change you can go ahead and make another change after a month or so. By making small changes one after the other, you still have the chance to be a whole new you at the end of 2012 and it’s a much more realistic way of doing it.
Don’t pick a New Year’s resolution that’s bound to fail either, like running a marathon if you’re 40 lbs. overweight and get out of breath walking upstairs. If that’s the case, resolve to walk every day. When you’ve got that habit down pat you can graduate to running in short bursts, constant running by March or April and a marathon at the end of the year. What’s the one habit you most want to change?
- Plan ahead
To ensure success you need to research the change you’re making and plan ahead so you have the resources available when you need them. Here are a few things you should do to prepare and get all the systems in place ready to make your change.Read up on it – Go to the library and get books on the subject. Whether it’s quitting smoking, taking up running or yoga or becoming vegan, there are books to help you prepare for it. Or use the Internet. If you do enough research you should even be looking forward to making the change.
Plan for success – Get everything ready so things will run smoothly. If you’re taking up running make sure you have the trainers, clothes, hat, glasses, ipod loaded with energetic sounds at the ready. Then there can be no excuses.
- Pick a start date
You don’t have to make these changes on New Year’s Day. That’s the conventional wisdom, but if you truly want to make changes then pick a day when you know you’ll be well-rested, enthusiastic, and surrounded by positive people.Sometimes picking a date doesn’t work. It’s better to wait until your whole mind and body are fully ready to take on the challenge. You’ll know when it is when the time comes.
- Go for it
On the big day go for it 100%. Make a commitment and write it down on a card. You just need one short phrase you can carry in your wallet. Or keep it in your car, by your bed and on your bathroom mirror too for an extra dose of positive reinforcement.
Your commitment card will say something like:- I enjoy a clean, smoke-free life.
- I stay calm and in control even under times of stress.
- I’m committed to learning how to run my own business.
- I meditate daily.

TrustDale Tip of the Day: *How to Clean Bathroom Shower Stalls
![]() |
You’ve been working in the yard all day, and you’re dirty and sweaty. The problem is, your shower stall or bathtub is grimier than you are. It’s imperative that you keep this part of your bathroom as sanitary as possible. |
Shower enclosures are a chore to keep clean — but they can be less of a problem if you follow these guidelines:
- Mix 1 part mineral oil with 4 parts water in a clean, empty spray bottle. Spray on soap scum and dirt in your shower or tub. Wipe off with a sponge.
- Remove water spots on the metal frames around shower doors and enclosures with lemon oil.
- If the grout or caulking in your shower breaks away where the walls join the tub or shower floor, recaulk immediately to prevent water damage.
- When tile walls need a thorough cleaning, run the shower water at its hottest temperature so the steam will loosen the dirt. Then, using a sponge mop, clean with a mixture of 1/2 cup vinegar, 1 cup clear ammonia, and 1/4 cup baking soda in 1 gallon of warm water. After cleaning, rinse with clear water. Note: Never use harsh abrasive powders or steel-wool pads.
- Coat the tile walls of your shower with furniture polish to prevent soap scum buildup and water spots.
- Clean mineral deposits from a shower head by removing the head, taking it apart, and soaking it in vinegar. Then brush deposits loose with an old toothbrush. Clean the holes by poking them with a wire, pin, toothpick, or ice pick.

TrustDale Tip of the Day: *Audio Video Care: Tips to Undertake to Clean Home Entertainment System
![]() |
If you want your entertainment system to last a lifetime and still perform at its best, you need to take good care of your audio-video system and clean every part of it appropriately and consistently. With everybody moving about in your house, keeping your equipment free of fingerprints, dust, pet hairs, and other harmful substances can be quite a hassle. Plus, it can even damage your system if you are not careful with your cleaning. On the other hand, it can also harm the performance of your audio and video component if you let dirt pile up on their surface. Oftentimes, the damage requires that you have to replace certain parts of the equipment. Here are some tips to care for your audio video equipment. By simply following this steps, you can increase the lifetime of your media equipment. |
Television – The largest item in your home entertainment system is also the first thing that attracts the most dust. Therefore, your TV should be a top priority when it comes to cleaning. Make sure to clean this properly to avoid damage on your system, especially if you have the screen of an LCD TV. Use cleaning kit that effectively and safely cleans all types of screens and electronic audio video equipment. Make sure to turn off and unplug your TV before you start wiping off the dirt. Using the soft dry cloth provided by the cleaning kit, wipe the screen very gently avoiding too much contact with the TV screen. If you have LCD TV, you have to be really careful in cleaning it because it has a specific outer layer covering that is easily damaged when applied with pressure. Wet cloths are not advisable to use with LCD screens especially if you use alcohol or thinner on the cloth. Make sure to use the spray and the microfiber cloth provided in the cleaning kit. Meanwhile, if you have a rear-projection television, you can use a soft dry cloth to remove dust and dirt on its screen.
Speakers – In cleaning the speakers, you need to wipe the dirt from the cabinet, grille, and drivers. Then, if you have audio headphones wireless, do not forget to clean these too. Cabinets, whether made of wood-like veneer, laminate material, metal, or plastic, require regular dusting. Any type of household furniture sprays is not recommended because they can damage the finish of your cabinets. Use a soft dry or slightly dampened cloth. For the grille, if it is made of fabric, you can simply vacuum it or place it is lukewarm water if it is removable. Use the cloth and spray provided in your cleaning kit for your wireless headphones.

TrustDale Tip of the Day: * Holiday Crime Prevention Tips
![]() |
Tips for Home: |
- Lock your doors and windows when you go out. Don’t leave the drapes open with your presents in plain view. If you leave your drapes open, place gifts where they can’t be easily seen.
- If you are leaving town for the holidays, make sure your home appears occupied. Leave inside and outside lights on timers and have your neighbors pick up newspapers, mail, and take flyers off your door. Ask neighbors to park in your driveway. Put a timer on a talk radio station.
- Never leave tree lights on when no one is at home. Remember, ornaments can also burn. If you choose to have a live Christmas tree, make sure it is always properly watered.
- Never leave tree lights on when no one is at home. Remember, ornaments can also burn. If you choose to have a live Christmas tree, make sure it is always properly watered.
- Don’t put out empty boxes advertising your new purchases. Open boxes completely to flatten and turn product illustrations “inside” to conceal images. Tie or tape into a bundle 2′x3′ and up to 6″ thick before placing next to your recycling stacking bin or tan “Papers” recycling cart.
- If you have a garage door opener, do not leave the control openly displayed in your vehicle. Keep the door leading from your house to your garage locked, and the garage door closed.

Be careful what you ask for… you might get it!

About five years ago, I became fed up with TV news; all the graft, corruption, and killing. No solutions, just more of the same. I had a solution – or so I thought I did. I’d run for office, tell people the truth, and do my very best to help solve the problems I’d been reporting on for 25 years. It was a grand plan, but there was one big problem – the Grand Plan Maker had another plan.
I wasn’t yet up to speed with that plan, so I spent some time reading, soul-searching, and attempting to put together a future. I was richly blessed with a wife who stood with me through some really tough times. She was the glue that held our family together. Thank you, Angie.
In late 2008, the Plan Maker started sharing His plan with me. Why not use the Internet to create a destination where people could find truth? Why not create a website where people didn’t have to worry about getting scammed; a website that identified companies, products, and services that didn’t just claim to deliver the best, but could actually prove it! The Plan Maker gave me a great partner to develop and launch that website, TrustDale.com. Thank you, Bruce Cardwell.
Today, TrustDale.com proudly represents 90 + companies that are based in character, truth, and delivering what they promise. Thank you vendor/partners. Two thousand years ago, the Earth, as the song says, “laid in sin and error pining, till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.” I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and I celebrate that belief on Christmas. At the same time, I’m proud to live in a Nation where we can all seek our path to the Grand Plan Maker and have a relationship that indeed allows our soul to feel its worth. Thank you all for allowing me into your lives so that I can feel my worth. Merry Christmas, Happy Holy Days, and let’s look forward to a wonderful 2012!

TrustDale Tip of the Day: *The Psychology of Holiday Parking
![]() |
Parking Professionals Offer Tips for Best Strategies to Avoid Stress |
- Avoid parking next to vans, pickups and large vehicles. They make it more difficult to see pedestrians and other vehicles when you back out of the space.
- Slow down in parking lots to avoid collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians.
- Smartphone users may want to consider downloading the many free mobile apps designed to help identify where you parked or take a picture of the signage showing where you parked your car.
- Once parked, go through a mental checklist: Is the car in park? Ignition off? Do you have your keys in a convenient place? Parking stub handy? It’s easy to get forget these things in the rush of the season.
- Be cautious walking through the parking facility. Walk with your head up making yourself aware of your surroundings.

TrustDale Tip of the Day: *Don’t panic: 5 tips for last-minute holiday shoppers
![]() |
You’ve gone and done it again: Another year, another busy December full of work, parties, football games, and excuses to put off your holiday shopping. And now, my skilled procrastinator, you find yourself empty-handed a mere three days before Christmas. |
You may be on the naughty list, but there is (a little) time for you yet. You can still successfully make your purchases despite the obstacles if you take the right precautions. There will be crowds, there will be rushing –but you will be prepared with the following tips.
- Make a Game Plan. If you know exactly who you’re buying for — and better yet, what you’re planning to buy — you can save a lot of time and avoid stressful, aimless wandering. Prepare by writing out the names of all recipients, a couple gift ideas for each, and where you think you can find those gifts. Make your list, but check it only once because time is of the essence, Bad Santa.
- Pick a Convenient Location. Now that you know what you need, you can determine the best place to go in search of the gifts. Malls are an obvious choice, especially if you have a good one in your vicinity, but local stores might hold the perfect unique gift and be more efficient (and less holiday headache-inducing) if they’re all close together. Remember that larger stores will provide a wide array of items, which could mean fewer stops and more time to sit on the couch, watch Love Actually and eat Christmas cookies — uh, I mean, more time to wrap.
- Use Your Resources. Didn’t find everything you need in your first stop? ‘Tis the season to be tech savvy. Download apps that tell you where your closest retailers are located and even where the sales are. You might think you have to travel far to a certain store when, in fact, there’s another retailer with the same items right around the corner.
- Be Decisive. Not sure if your friend will look better in the blue or green sweater? Good news: No one cares! OK, fine, you care, but when you’re racing a deadline, there’s no time to sweat the small stuff. Follow your instincts, and if you really can’t decide, grab both items. Chances are you’re going to stand in line for several minutes or more, so you can multitask by making last-minute decisions while you wait. Hopefully, by the time you get to the register, you’ll remember how good he looks in green, and you can ditch the excess and be on your way.
- Keep Calm and Shop On. While the circumstances are not ideal for a leisurely day of shopping, with a good attitude, you might just make it through the day unscathed. Before you leave the house, make sure you’re dressed comfortably and fully equipped with your list, cash, cards, and Christmas cheer (perhaps in the form of caffeine). With all your tools in place, you’re ready to venture out. Try to have fun with it — and remember that it’s your own fault you’re in this position in the first place. Crowds, lines, confusion, and a ticking clock can be a recipe for disaster, but if you stay calm and confident, you might just have a good time. After all, that Red Ryder BB gun you picked out is going to make a certain someone very happy!
